HUNTERSVILLE – A 25-year-old man was arrested last week after his girlfriend called police and claimed he shot her in the stomach with a pellet gun during a fight.

Corey Robert Beaumont, of 11006 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon, police said.

It is unclear what the couple was fighting about.

His girlfriend was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
