HUNTERSVILLE – For the first time, children participating in two Huntersville summer camp programs will square off in Olympic-style competition in contests ranging from kickball to a wet-wear water relay.
The first annual Kids Kamp Challenge on Aug. 12 will pit children attending Huntersville Parks and Recreation’s Summer Day Camp and those attending Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics’ Summer Breeze Camp. The camp collecting the most points takes home a trophy for the year. Organizers also will give awards for most valuable player and sportsmanship, and everyone gets a ribbon.
Directors of both camps say they need volunteer judges that day, and they are inviting the public to watch the contests. Contests start at 10 a.m. Aug. 12, a Friday, and last until 2 p.m., with a lunch break for pizza. Anyone who wants to volunteer as a judge should contact Lynn Marie Schlierf at lschlierf@huntersville.org or 704-948-9921
