CORNELIUS – Lucky Stars, an award-winning line-dance group of adults 55 and older based at the North Mecklenburg Senior Center, is looking for new members.
The group, which performs at senior-living communities, nursing homes, senior centers, and church, will hold a five-week training session in August.
“The Lucky Stars bring wholesome entertainment and exercise opportunities to seniors in our area,” Joanne Ahern, director of the senior center and leader of the Lucky Stars, said in a news release. “They have been dancing for nine years and have performed all over the county, in addition to competing annually in the North Carolina Senior Games.”
Those interested must be at least 55 and have a basic knowledge of dance. During the training session-tryouts, newcomers will learn several dance and routines the group uses now.
The training sessions will be held on five consecutive Tuesday mornings beginning Aug. 2 at the senior center, 18731 W. Catawba Ave. Each session lasts from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
