HUNTERSVILLE – Two students at Torrence Creek Elementary School recently donated hair to Locks of Love, the nonprofit which provides wigs and hairpieces to women undergoing treatment for cancer. On June 7, Julia Keyser, 11, who just finished the fifth grade at Torrence Creek Elementary, donated 11 inches of her hair, actually two pony tails, which she has been growing for about 1 1/2 years, according to her mom, Annie Keyser. She made her donation at Great Clips at Rosedale. Katie Johnson, 8, a rising fourth-grader, visited Beauty Brands at Birkdale on Friday, June 24, and donated her ponytail. Katie “has been looking forward to growing a ponytail long enough to be used by the Locks of Love program,” her mother, Mandy, wrote in an email. “Today she was able to meet the hair length requirement and gladly gave her ponytail, in loving memory of a very special friend.”
