Angela G. Buffkin

HUNTERSVILLE – Angela Dee Gant Buffkin, 51, of Huntersville, died June 15, 2011, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Born March 8, 1960, in Charlotte, Mrs. Buffkin was a daughter of David Harris Gant and the late Sophia Darnell Gant.

In addition to her father, survivors, include daughters Angela Nicole Hill and husband,  Michael, Charlotte, Charity Ann Hill-Gant, California, and Krystal Marie Ritters, Michigan; sister, Ann Gant; and six grandchildren.

All services were private. Samuel S. James, funeral service licensee, was in charge.

Frances B. Beard

HUNTERSVILLE – Frances Elizabeth Barnette Beard, of Huntersville, 78, died June 16, 2011, at the Brian Center in Winston-Salem.

Born Dec. 8, 1932, in Huntersville, Mrs. Beard was a daughter of the late Samuel Jones and Norma Jane Gilbert Barnette.

She lived most of her life in the Huntersville area and worked 30 years for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, retiring as food services manager at North Mecklenburg High School. She was a member of Huntersville United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Grady McKnight Beard, and brother Carl Barnette, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son, Grady Alan Beard, and wife, Belinda, Winston-Salem; her sister, Faye Hubbard; brother Marshall Barnette; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 18, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Michael Goode, with entombment at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.

Amy V. Linderman

HUNTERSVILLE  – Amaryllis “Amy” Vaughn Linderman, 92, of Huntersville, died June 16, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1918, in Duncan, S.C., Mrs. Linderman was a daughter of the late Thomas Caldwell and Alice Lancaster Vaughn.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Asheville Teacher’s College with a BS in education and her master’s from Furman University. She retired as an elementary school teacher and was a charter member of Meadowlake Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 18, at Meadowlake Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Fred Lowrance, with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Mount Holly. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home was in charge.

Survivors include sons Earl Linderman and wife, Harriet, Statesville, and Roger Linderman and wife, Emily, Denver; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials: Meadowlake Presbyterian Church, 6501 Gilead Road, Huntersville, NC 28078.

Dennis A. Standering

CORNELIUS – Dennis Allen Standering, 78, of Cornelius, died June 17, 2011, at his home.

Born Sept. 17, 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. Standering was a son of the late Amos and Thelma Standering.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Standering; son, Dan Standering, Cornelius; daughter, Julie Standering, Roseville, Minn.; and a granddaughter.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 21, at the VA National Cemetery, Salisbury. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service License, Huntersville, was in charge.

Mary F. Coultas

CHARLOTTE – Mary Fran Coultas, 70, died June 17, 2011, at her home of brain cancer.

Born Nov. 23, 1940, in Pontiac, Ill., Mrs. Coultas was a daughter of Robert John “RJ” and Lorraine Cushing, of Largo, Fla.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and was a member of the board of directors at the Graduate Realtors Institute and vice president of the Illinois Board of Realtors.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Ken Coultas; sons Tim Coultas and wife, Karen, Largo, Fla., and Doug Coultas and wife, Lisa, Valrico, Fla.; brother, RJ Cushing Jr., Reno, Nev.; sister, Barbara Kelly, Auburn, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 21, at Grace Covenant Church, Cornelius. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service Licensee, Huntersville, was in charge.

Scott D. Tomlinson

HUNTERSVILLE – Scott David Tomlinson, 44, of Huntersville, died June 16, 2011, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Born Dec. 20, 1966, in Asheville, Mr. Tomlinson was a son of David and Paula Tomlinson, Salmon, Idaho.

He worked as an information technology manager for Wells Fargo.

In addition to his parents, survivors, include his wife, Marcela Tomlinson; sons Joshua and Andre Tomlinson, both of Huntersville; brothers Paul and Mark Tomlinson; and sister, Jennifer.

A memorial service was held Monday, June 20, at Lake Forest Church, conducted by the Rev. Mike Moses. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service License, was in charge.

Memorials: Children’s Impact Network, Soldier’s Angels or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
