Jingle nets cash
by Staff Writer
Early Childhood students at Davidson Day School earned their school $2,500 with their performance of the Harris Teeter jingle for the company’s Sing My Jingle Contest.
Harris Teeter invited schools enrolled in its Together In Education program to submit a video of students performing its jingle. Davidson Day’s submission won first place in the pre-kindergarten division.
Dana Somers, the school’s early childhood education coordinator and transitional kindergarten teacher, along with other Davidson Day preschool teachers, developed a storyboard for the performance that featured preschoolers dressed as grocery-shopping adults in the chain’s Davidson store. All four preschool classes were also filmed singing the jingle in different sections of the grocery store.
