HUNTERSVILLE – Cannon School senior Madeline Hurley, of Huntersville, received a national merit scholarship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she plans to attend in the fall.
She was selected from among a number of finalists in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. The university selected Hurley for showing exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. She will receive $1,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study, with the university financing the scholarship.
