DAVIDSON – The Davidson College Board of Trustees has named Carol Quillen the school’s new president.
Quillen, the current vice president for international and interdisciplinary initiatives at Rice University, will begin her role as the school’s leader Aug. 1.
Quillen takes over for Tom Ross who stepped down last year to become president of the University of North Carolina System, a position he began in January.
A Delaware native, Quillen received her bachelor’s degree in American history from Chicago University and a Ph.D. in European history from Princeton University. She has authored two books and received several grants and fellowships.
