DAVIDSON – The Davidson Farmer’s Market has kicked off a Friends of the Market Pea Pod Fundraising Campaign, with the goal of raising $2,500.
“The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a wholly community-supported farmer’s market,” Market Manager Courtney Spear said in a news release. “We are not funded by the N.C. Department of Agriculture or local municipalities, so we rely heavily on the generous support of our corporate and individual donors.”
Spear estimates each of the 40 markets held through the year costs about $625, and campaign funds will replace damaged tents, purchase new cooking demonstration equipment and cover the day-to-day expenses.
Each person who makes a donation is encouraged to write their name on a pea and add it to the hand-painted pickup that market officials will display at the market through the end of the month.
To make a donation, visit the Friends of the Market Pea Pod table any Saturday or email info@davidsonfarmersmarket.org.
