Jill Swain dropped her mayoral gavel and picked up a stop sign recently to help out as Huntersville’s Public Works Department installed a sidewalk along Stumptown Road.

The Huntersville mayor said she was humbled by the hard work of the town’s department and said getting a chance to volunteer with the crew made her realize how much they do.

The Public Works Department recently won approval to hire two more employees to help with roadwork projects.
