DAVIDSON – More than 165 runners participated in FIRE 2011, the Ada Jenkins Center’s third annual 5K and barbecue benefit, Saturday, April 30.
Eight cooks also competed for the title of barbecue chef king. DDQ and Ten Ten Bar-B-Que tied for first place in the Hogmaster Division, and Moonswine Racers took third. Best set-up went to Mert’s Heart and Soul. The People’s Choice Award, arranged by Mobile Marketing Max, went to Ten Ten Bar-B-Que.
The mayors of Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville; Tom Grogan of Grogan and Associates, who is a member at the Ada Jenkins board; and Adam Boatsman and Dale Gillmore, of Boatsman and Gillmore PLLC, served as judges.
