DAVIDSON – Work crews will begin installing the newest generation of water-meter electronic transmitters Friday, May 6, in the River Run neighborhood in Davidson and the Hidden Valley community in Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities is conducting its first test project on the Itron 100W data-logger transmitter. The utility sent postcards announcing the pilot project to residents in River Run and Hidden Valley on Friday, April 29, and will also post signs in the neighborhoods and leave door hangers for the roughly 1,500 customers who may see work going on at their meter box. Crews should finish installing the real-time, continuous-meter-reading electronics by July, and engineering analysis will continue at least six months.
A similar pilot test of the Badger Orion data logger should begin in September in Peninsula neighborhoods in Cornelius and Charlotte’s Faires Farm subdivision. Find more information at the utility’s website, http://charmeck.org/city/charlotte/utilities/.
