The Hopewell boys tennis team won its first round match in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs. The Titans defeated Southwest Guilford 5-1 at home on May 3. The Titans’ Tyler Roberts, Brian Andersen, John Armato, Danny Wintermeier and Chris Hourihan scored singles victories in a first-to-five team match that never made it to doubles play. Hopewell improved to 17-3 on the season.
