HUNTERSVILLE – Bailey Middle School will honor U.S. veterans and those who have died defending the country during a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, in the school gymnasium.

The ceremony includes JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) members from Hough High School, patriotic music from the school’s eighth-grade band, a Memorial Day essay tribute and art contest winners. The school will hold a small reception in the library following the ceremony. All veterans are welcome to attend the presentation.

The school will also hold its third annual Silent Art Auction on Wednesday, June 1, at the school from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All students who have taken an art class during the school year will have a piece of art in the auction.

Half of the event’s proceeds go to the school’s visual arts program. The school will donate the rest to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg school in need.

The school needs volunteers to help prepare the art display Tuesday, May 31, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Anyone interested should call the school at 980-344-0514.
