DAVIDSON – A number of local musicians and runners are participating in the Loopy 4 a Cause music festival and 24-hour run June 4 and 5 on the Village Green in downtown Davidson. The event includes cotton candy, games and fun for kids.

The festival raises money for the Batten Disease Support & Research Association. Davidson resident and ultra-marathon runner Jeff McGonnell plans to run for 24 hours around the Green. McGonnell is a friend of the Hawkins family in Concord. Two Hawkins brothers, Brandon, 13, and Jeremy, 9, have the juvenile form of Batten Disease. Live music starts at 10:30 a.m. and continues until 9 p.m. on June 4, a Saturday. The music starts again on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Participating musicians include Billy Jones, Rick Spreitzer, Rusty Knox Trio, Jana V, Chas Willomen, Mack Russum Rob McHale, Sunday Union and Langlee. Bring lawn chairs. Find more details at www.loopy4acause.blogspot.com.
