HUNTERSVILLE – The Huntersville Youth Athletic Association is collecting sports equipment to donate to needy children in Huntersville and the Charlotte-area through the Police Athletic League, the Huntersville Police Department and Solomon House.
The youth sports group is asking community members to bring donated equipment to its All-Star Night on June 8, a Wednesday, at Bradford Park, 17005 Davidson-Concord Road. The association will have a donation truck at the park after 5 p.m.
All sport equipment is welcome but especially needed is baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer and football gear. The association will use monetary donations to purchase equipment at a discount.
Anyone unable to drop off donations June 8 should contact association team mother Amy Gais at 704-995-1808 or amygais@hotmail.com to arrange pick-up time June 5, a Sunday. Youth baseball players and their families have volunteers to pick up donations.
