HUNTERSVILLE – The 2011 North Mecklenburg Relay for Life takes place Friday night and Saturday morning on the grounds of Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, 10030 Gilead Road.
Relay for Life teams, cancer survivors and other volunteers kick off the event at 6 p.m. activities continue through the night, with the relay concluding with ceremonies Saturday morning. Participants should park behind the Physicians Plaza in the second patient-visitor lot at the hospital. The annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society is a tobacco- and alcohol-free event. Pets are not allowed, and each team is responsible for cleaning up its trash.
According to the event website, Relay teams leading fundraising so far are: Robinson’s Superheroes, $8,923 Her-i-cane, $4,723.50; CBO Crusaders Against Cancer, $4,036; We Walk The Line, $3,635; and CSI-Cure Seekers, $2,548.14.
Top individual fundraisers are Heather Bedell, $2,515; Brooke Lenon, $1,835; Stacey Meighan, $1,633.14; Carol Fleming, $1,620; and Karen Eisner, $1,510.
The top fundraising companies are PartyLite, $592, and Dressbarn, $435.
