Thank you for the opportunity to respond to a recent email that was sent out by Commissioner Charlie Jeter. I have reviewed the minutes from our budget discussions and have a copy of the digital voice recording. It is unclear to me where Commissioner Jeter came up with his “foregone conclusions.” Our minutes are public record.

The reality is that we are in the discussion stage, and there have been no votes cast. Now is the time to present solutions. Our town manager has presented us with his proposed budget. I have been studying our budget and have found items I believe can be cut and I will continue to look. And I don’t believe anyone on our town board wants a tax increase. People are struggling and we must do our best to find solutions that will keep our taxes low while not jeopardizing the safety of our citizens.

I will be holding two unofficial meetings at Town Hall for those that would like to come out and review the budget and ask me any questions: Monday, May 23, 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. We are planning to have the final discussion and vote at our board meeting on June 6.
