CORNELIUS – Reese Towpower, a manufacturer of towing products, and DKMS, a bone marrow donor center, will team up to register new bone marrow donors Wednesday, May 25, at the fifth annual Michael Waltrip Racing Fan Fest.
The event takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waltrip’s race shop at 20310 Chartwell Center Drive. Bobby Labonte will make an appearance at the autograph session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and other drivers expected at the event are Waltrip, NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers David Reutimann and Martin Truex Jr., Nationwide Series driver Ryan Truex and East driver Brett Moffitt.
Fans attending the event will have the chance to get a cheek swab and save a potential life by registering to become a bone marrow donor with DKMS.
One-year-old Ayelet Galena has a rare bone marrow failure disorder and will not survive if she doesn’t have a transplant soon. Leukemia and other blood cancers are the No. 1 disease killing children in the U.S.
