HUNTERSVILLE – Carolynn Bayne of Cornelius, a licensed massage and bodywork therapist and professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association, received the North Carolina Chapter’s Debbie Long Memorial Community Outreach Award at its 2011 spring convention.
The $500 grant will support her proposal to provide therapeutic touch massage to patients at the Lake Norman Community Health Clinic in Huntersville. The nonprofit clinic provides quality health care to uninsured residents of the Lake Norman community.
Bayne will provide massage services for six weeks, largely in June, and serve as a pilot for integrated and preventative health care, with the potential benefit of reduced health care costs.
