Neta W. Davis



HUNTERSVILLE – Neta Woody Davis, of Huntersville, died May 12, 2011, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.



Born Nov. 17, 1942, in Rocky Mount, Va., Mrs. Davis was a daughter of the late Wiley and Roslyn Woody. She recently retired from the State of Virginia, where she was a social worker.



Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn “Kay” Roslyn Calvert, and husband, Michael, Cornelius; sister, Lucille Wolfrey; brother, Stephen Woody; and a granddaughter.



A memorial service was held Saturday, May 14, at Christ Community Church, conducted by the Rev. Ricky Ray. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service Licensee, was in charge.

Rev. Eulice Thomas



DENVER – The Rev. Eulice Douglas Thomas, 85, of Denver, died May 12, 2011, at the Brian Center in Mooresville.



Born Feb. 11, 1926, in Tangier, Va., Rev. Thomas was a son of the late Eulice and Hattie Laird Thomas.



During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from May 1944 to May 1946. He graduated from the Prairie Bible Institute, Alberta, Canada; Columbia International University, Columbia, S.C.; and Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. He served at Jamaica Bible College, Mandeville, Jamaica, from 1957 to 1966 under the World Team Mission and, as a minister in the Presbyterian Church, pastored churches in the Carolinas and Virginia.



Son Douglas Thomas and his brother, Rudy Thomas, preceded him in death.



Survivors include his wife, Juanita Thomas; son Nathan Thomas, Charlotte; daughters Susan Smith and husband, Ted, Denver, and Valerie Price and husband, Dean, Leesville, S.C.; sister, Pauline Kent, Dover, Del.; and seven grandchildren.



A memorial service was held Monday, May 16, at First Presbyterian Church-Stanley, conducted by the Rev. Dan King, with private burial at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery, Cornelius. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service Licensee, was in charge.

Marvin C. Todd



CORNELIUS – Marvin Carr Todd, 77, of Cornelius, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital-Charlotte.



Born Jan. 20, 1934, in Mecklenburg County, Mr. Todd was a son of the late Dexter and Effie Carr Todd.



Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Todd; daughters Jan Freshwater and husband, Bill, Mooresville, and Libby Ann Christian and husband, Jim, Huntersville; brother, Bill Todd, and wife, Bennie, Huntersville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.



A funeral service was held Monday, May 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Charlotte, conducted by the Revs. Wade Ogle and Jimmy Howard, with burial in the church cemetery. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service Licensee, Huntersville, was in charge.

Darlene Belding



HUNTERSVILLE – Darlene Marie Sass “Dar” Belding, 62, of Charlotte, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.



Born July 5, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Belding was the daughter of the late Nicolas and Helen Sass, of Newbury, Ohio.



She worked 30 years in the insurance industry for CoreSource, Ohio Bankers League, UniCare and Mercer Consulting.



Survivors include children Richard Belding and wife, Molli, Westerville, Ohio, Danielle Belding-Smith, Charlotte, and Robert Belding, Columbus, Ohio; brother, John Sass, Newbury, Ohio; sister, Karen Vogle, Geneva, Ohio; and six grandchildren.



A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 18, at St. Mark Catholic Church. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home was in charge.
