Twenty-three North Mecklenburg High School marketing students competed at DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla., April 29 through May 4. Students competed against 16,000 students from around the world. The team of Michele Salpietra and Marieke Wood were selected second place overall in the Financial Literacy Promotion Project event. Another team of Ashley Frost, Delaney Galvin and Tarryn Rutherford placed in the top 16 of the Entrepreneurship Promotion Project event. DECA is an international association of high school business and marketing students and teachers.
