The Titans’ girls soccer team won its rivalry match against North Mecklenburg, 5-1. It was Hopewell’s first victory over the Vikings since March 31, 2009 when the Titans split the season series. North Meck had won three straight since then.
“We scored in the third minute of the game and that really set our pace,” said Hopewell coach Robb Bolar. “After that, I felt we were able to control the pace and play of the game.”
Senior forward Brooke Arey scored three times. Teammates Katelyn Faucette and Celeste Godwin chipped in goals, while North Meck’s Lisa Myers provide her team’s lone strike. Hopewell’s record improved to 5-3-1, while North Meck fell to 2-7.
