Five Huntersville-area athletes competed in the 20th annual Charlotte Pro-Am All-Star Classic basketball games at Providence Day School on April 2. Hopewell’s Elliott Pope (left) and North Mecklenburg’s Carlin Bremner played for the West squad, which fell to the East, 102-90. Pope scored a team-high 14 points, while Bremner added 10 points. Pope, who has a 3.9 GPA and scored 1,730 on the SAT, also was named the Boys Student-Athlete of the Game. Pope signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Carson Newman College. In the girls game, Hopewell’s Hunter Meakin (left) Karoline Summerville (right) played for the West team, while North Mecklenburg’s Tatum McKee (center) was with the East. Meakin had six points and was named the Girls Student-Athlete of the Game, thanks to her score of 1,750 on the SAT and a 3.8 GPA. McKee had eight points and Summerville chipped in one point.
