CHARLOTTE – U.S. News & World Report has recognized four Carolinas Medical Center hospitals among the top six facilities in the Charlotte metro area in its latest rankings of the nation’s best hospitals.



Gaston Memorial Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Main were the other hospitals placing in the top six.



The top six were Carolinas Medical Center-Main, first; Gaston Memorial Hospital, second; Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, third; and Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Carolinas Medical Center-Union and Presbyterian Hospital-Main, tied for fourth.



The new rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties. Nearly 5,000 hospitals operate in the U.S.
