DAVIDSON – Omar Caldwell, a senior at Davidson Day School and CEO and founder of Children Empowering Children, will host a phone-a-thon at the Lake Norman YMCA on Thursday, April 7, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Other Davidson Day students will help raise funds for Lake Norman YMCA’s community support campaign, which provides financial assistance for children’s summer programs.

Children Empowering Children encourages youth to become leaders by qualifying one another to serve the greater community by providing assistance to other nonprofit organizations in the form of monetary support, clothing, school supplies, furniture and food items.

Omar hopes to attend Oxford University to pursue a degree in pediatric medicine. He enjoys playing basketball and soccer in his free time.
