The Charlotte Area Transit System encourages students to apply to attend Green on Board: A Youth Summit to Advance Public Transportation by April 22.

The summit, held June 26-30 in Washington, D.C., will offer participants the opportunity to spend five days in the nation’s capital meeting with lawmakers, leaders and industry professionals, while learning about the impact public transportation can have on their country’s future.

“This is a great opportunity to learn how public transportation creates livable communities, economic prosperity and helps the environment,” said Carolyn Flowers, Charlotte Areas Transit System’s CEO. “I strongly encourage students interested in making a difference in the future to apply.”

Students must be a high school junior or senior during the 2011-12 school year to qualify for the all-expenses-paid summit. Interested student may download an application at www.apta.com/youthsummit.
