The April 30 event begins at 8 a.m. in the University City Research Park, at 10101 David Taylor Drive. The duathlon will include a 5K run followed by a 19K bike ride and will end with a 3K run. Racers can elect to participate alone or as a team.
The event costs $45 before April 29 and $55 the day of the race. Participants get a free T-shirt and meal. Registration is required.
Proceeds from the event will go to W.I.S.H. Program, a Charlotte-based nonprofit organization, working to eradicae homelessness in the Charlotte area.
After the event, racers are encouraged to hang around for the Green Goats & Gardens, an annual event celebrating ‘green’ innovations in the area. That event begins at 11 a.m. and will feature a kid parade, face painting, a bike rodeo, gardening exhibits and ecological education.
