Lake Norman Charter School abruptly fired boys basketball coach Troy Simko last week.

Knights’ athletic director Matt Schlegal confirmed that Simko was no longer employed at the school as a teacher or basketball coach on April 19, but when asked why he was let go, Schlegal said, “no comment.” He added that the school would issue a statement on Simko’s departure.

Simko coached the program’s only two seasons of varsity play. He finished with a record of 18-22. Schlegal said junior varsity assistant coach Aaron Reeves will take over the varsity team on an interim basis.
