A Huntersville police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a being involved in a low-speed wreck when a minivan turned in front of his patrol car Monday, April 11.
Huntersville Police Officer Tyler Medlin was traveling in the inside lane of Gilead Road approaching the intersection with Statesville Road. Several cars in the right lane had stopped to allow a minivan to make a left out of the Huntersville Square shopping center parking lot, Huntersville Police Capt. Michael Kee said. The driver of the van then turned left out of the parking lot and into the path of the cruiser, Kee said.
The minivan driver had minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, police said.
It is unclear if any charges have been issued to the driver, whose name was not released.
