Davidson college men’s basketball player DeMón Brooks, a former Hopewell High standout, has been named to the Mid-Major Freshman All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com.

Brooks is one of 21 players in the country to earn the honor.

Brooks averaged nine points and 5.1 rebounds a game while shooting a team-leading 52.8 percent from the floor in his rookie campaign. He ranked first among Southern Conference freshman in field goal percentage and third in rebounding.
