The Mecklenburg County Tax Collector recently announced a new online payment system for business taxpayers.
Until recently, payments for privilege and business licenses, beer and wine licenses, taxi cab licenses, prepared food and beverage taxes, room occupancy taxes, vehicle rental taxes, heavy equipment taxes and yard sale licenses were only payable by mail or in person.
The new online system is only available for renewals. The first license issued by the county for any business must be obtained in person at the Mecklenburg County Business Tax Collections office. Licenses expire June 30 of each year, regardless of when the license was issued.
Other business taxes that are filed and paid monthly or quarterly are eligible for the online pay system.
