Cornelius natives Nicole (left) and Sydney Ferren placed in the 2011 High Country Junior Race Series, a youth skiing competition held at ski resorts throughout the Appalachian Mountains. Nicole (Hough High School) finished first in the 15-year-old division, while Sydney (Davidson IB Middle School) came in third in the 13-year-old competition.
