HUNTERSVILLE – Torrence Creek Elementary School fourth-grader Kyra Totillo got the chance to shove a pie into the face of the school’s Principal Chuck Nusinov March 9 after the Student Council exceeded its fundraising goals.
Nusinov promised the students they could hit him with the pie if they raised at least $1,200 in their “Pennies for Patients” drive, a spare change fundraiser to benefit the fight against leukemia, lymphoma. They did and then some.
The council, comprised of 30 fourth and fifth graders, has raised more than $4,500 so far. Students will continue accepting money until Thursday, March 17.
