The Future of the Library Task Force will present its recommendations for the library system to the Board of County Commissioners and the Library Board of Trustees on March 21 at 6 p.m. in conference room 267 of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center.
The Future of the Library Task Force was created to study the library system and propose a better model for supporting and operating the system in the future. The 16-member task force was selected from a pool of 87 candidates and includes a wide array of professions and occupations.
A majority of the task force has endorsed a spending plan that would close five, possibly six, community library branches, including branches in Cornelius and Davidson after July 1, if the county doesn’t give the system an extra $2 million.
