Huntersville resident John B. Marek was awarded the Jack Ervin Professional Development Scholarship at the mid-winter Conference of the NC Economic Developers Association, held March 3 to 4 in Pinehurst.

The award is granted annually to an economic developer whose contributions to the profession, commitment to high professional and personal standards and professional success have earned the respect of his peers and associates. The scholarship goes toward the cost of attending the Economic Development Institute.

Marek moved to Huntersville in 1995 from the Toledo, Ohio, area and founded the Huntersville-based economic development consulting firm Market Path Consultants LLC in 2004.
