Hough High School’s DECA club made its debut at the 67th North Carolina DECA Career Development Competition held Feb. 27 through March 1, winning the coveted Quiz Bowl event.



Craig Amasya, Mitchell Bowker, Amelia Sechrest and David Snedecor will represent North Carolina in this year’s International DECA Career Development Conference to be held in Orlando, Fla., in April.



Seventy-two Hough students joined 2,000 other students from across North Carolina at the conference held in Greensboro.  The Hough Quiz Bowl team won first place beating Mallard Creek High School in the final round.  The chapter took home a total of four trophies, 17 finalist medals, 20 event medals, and four recognition test plaques. The student marketing organization earned its first Gold Level Chapter of Distinction Award.



Trophies and finalist medals went to the following students:



• First place – DECA Quiz Bowl Team: Craig Amasya, Mitchell Bowker Amelia Sechrest, David Snedecor



• First place – International Business Plan: David Snedecor



• First place – Sports & Entertainment Marketing: David Snedecor



• Third place – Retail Merchandising: Craig Amasya.
