Davidson Day School recently hired Trent Brown as co-head lacrosse coach.

Brown will sharing the head-coaching duties this year with Jason Smith, who is also an assistant coach on the Patriots’ football staff. Brown will take sole control as head coach for the 2011-12 school year.

“I could not be happier about Trent Brown coming on board at Davidson Day,” said Tim Weir, the school’s athletics director. “Trent is a perfect fit for DDS. He has an extensive background in building successful lacrosse programs and I look forward to watching him develop our young athletes into one of the top programs in the Lake Norman region.”

Brown played for national powerhouse West Genesee, a high school that won a record 15 state championships in New York, having earned a title in 1991.
