Corvian Community School first-graders performed their first play at the school Wednesday, Feb. 9. The play, entitled “Heroes We Know and Heroes We Wish We could Meet,” was the culmination of a unit in which the students studied the Wright brothers, Neil Armstrong, Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr., among others. The students also learned about the ways in which people everywhere – coaches, teachers, parents and community leaders – can be heroes.

“We can all be heroes,” the students said. “We just need to be willing to help each other out when someone needs a hand.”

The first-grade performers were Ellie Shields, Bryce Johnson, Josh Sanchez, Alexa Brezeault, Drew O’Donnell, Audrey Jordan, Spencer Brown, Kendall Esque and Whitman Shields.
