Hough High School’s Art Club and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America are using empty bowls to fill the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots initiative to raise money and awareness in the fight against hunger. The students created ceramic bowls to be sold to raise money for the food bank.
Students, parents, school staff and community members may purchase handmade bowls for $10 through Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the school. The bowls are available in the inside mall area of the school during lunch and from 2:15 to 4 p.m. each day. The school is also collecting canned goods that may be dropped off during those times.
All canned goods and Empty Bowl proceeds go to Second Harvest Food Bank. For more information, contact Marjorie O’shea at 980-344-0514 or by e-mail at marjorieoshea@cms.k12.nc.us. For more information about the Empty Bowls project, visit www.emptybowls.net.
