FARMINGTON, Conn. – Davidson Elementary School kindergartner Alexis Solorzano, 6, won $250 and the top award for artistic achievement in the national ArtStamps competition. ArtStamps is a fundraising company that converts original works of art into postage stamps, note cards and other products that can be sold to raise money for schools. ArtStamps selected Alexis’ work to win in the under-6 age group for its originality and creativity. His work was chosen from thousands of entries.
“In addition to helping schools and groups raise money, ArtStamps was created to make a positive impact on children and their education,” ArtStamps Founder and CEO George A. Castineiras said in a news release. “We’re pleased to acknowledge and reward the artistic talents of the winning students.”
