CHARLOTTE – The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Urban Institute and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education have released the preliminary results of a survey that asked district parents, students and teachers to identify the most pressing issues facing the district and the most important attributes in a new superintendent.
The survey results are being used to guide and inform a series of community meetings about what the community wants in a new superintendent of schools.
“We are pleased by the response to our survey and we hope to have even more input from the public during our meetings next week,” said Board of Education Chairman Eric Davis. “In making this important hiring decision, we want to have as many voices in the conversation about it as we can, from as many parts of the community as we can.”
A community meeting will take place at North Mecklenburg High School, 11201 Old Statesville Road, Dec. 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Staff with the Urban Institute will present their preliminary findings at the Board of Education’s Tuesday, Dec. 13, meeting at 6 p.m. in the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
