Patricia L. Comer
CORNELIUS – Patricia “Patty” Leistner Comer, 71, of Cornelius, died Nov. 29, 2011, at her home.
Born Nov. 22, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Comer was a daughter of the late William and Bernardine Leistner.
She worked as associate real estate broker in Atlanta, Ga., where she was a repeat member of the Million Dollar Sales Club of Atlanta. She became a Christian on Sept. 28, 1981, and afterward, held part-time administrative positions at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas, and Bethel Presbyterian Church, in Cornelius. In 1999, she survived breast cancer only to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2006.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Frederick “Fred” E. Comer Jr.; son, Lt. Col. Herbert Ludwig, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.; daughter, Pamela Mullis, and husband, James, Columbus, Miss.; stepdaughter, Andrea Schoeppner, York, Pa.; brother, William Leistner Jr., Sewickley, Pa.; and two grandsons.
A funeral was held Thursday, Dec. 1, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Cain, with burial in the church cemetery. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service Licensee, Huntersville was in charge.

‘Betsy’ M. Southworth
HUNTERSVILLE – Bette Ann “Betsy” Muir Southworth, 69, of Huntersville, died Nov. 29, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville.
Born Oct. 1, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Southworth was a daughter of the late John and Bette Poschinger Muir.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Southworth; daughters Katherine Campbell and husband, Melvin, Charlotte, Stephanie Southworth, Anderson, S.C., and Jenny DePompa, Charlotte; sister, Sandi Daniels, Washington; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 2, at Trinity United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Albert Wade Ogle, with burial in the church cemetery. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home & Cremation Service was in charge.

Walter R. Norris
CORNELIUS – Walter Randolph Norris, 59, of Cornelius, died Nov. 30, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born Jan. 2, 1952, in Charlotte, Mr. Norris was a son of the late Charles Bradley and Ernestine Stout Norris.
He worked more than 40 years for Charlotte Memorial Hospital, now Carolina’s HealthCare System, as a cardiac catheterization technician.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Angela “Angie” Jordan Norris; sister, Sally Templin; brothers Chuck, Bill, John, Ed and Tom Norris; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Dec. 4, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville.

Cosima N. Larreur
CORNELIUS – Cosima Maria Negro “Nonna” Larreur, 75, of Cornelius, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at her home.
Born Dec. 5, 1935, in Veglie, Italy, Mrs. Larreur was a daughter of the late Settimio and Wanda Negro. Maria earned a degree in education from the University of Bari and married Claude Larreur, a recent graduate of the Italian Naval Academy, in 1959.
She lived in Haiti for several years and moved with her family to the Washington, D.C., area in 1965.
In 1970, she joined the staff of the Embassy of Italy and retired as embassy educational officer in 2000.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years; sons Roger, and wife, Kelly, and Rudy and wife, Amy; daughter, Sandra, and husband, Tim; brother, Giuseppe Negro; sister, Natalia Nabavian; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, in Huntersville. Visitation will take place at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Johnathan L. Rhyne
LINCOLNTON – Johnathan Laban Rhyne, 88, of Lincolnton, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011.
Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Lincolnton, Mr. Rhyne was a son of the later Agnes Munday and Paul Conrad Rhyne.
As a first lieutenant in U.S. Army during World War II , he served in the Philippines and Japan. He served as superintendent of National Mills, later a division of R.L. Stowe Mills. Returning to Lincolnton in 1954, he and his brothers built Rhyne Mills into an industry leader in the specialty yarns.
Brothers Paul Conrad Rhyne Jr. and Joseph Munday Rhyne preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marian Stowe Rhyne, Davidson; sons Johnathan Laban Rhyne Jr. and wife, Martha Jayne Cameron Rhyne, Gastonia, and Charles Chafin Rhyne and wife, Jennie Gallagher Rhyne, Lincolnton; daughter, Charlotte Rhyne, Tequesta, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, in Davidson, conducted by the Revs. Lib McGregor Simmons and Bill Tiemann. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge.
