Davidson Day boys basketball team is surging
The Davidson Day boys basketball team improved to 15-1 with a 73-49 romp against Concord First Assembly in the first round of the Charlotte Sports Commission Hardwood Classic on Dec. 27.

Point guard Rashun Davis led the Patriots with 23 points, four assists and three steals. Forward Phillip Anglade had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Davidson Day, which advanced to the tournament semifinal Dec. 28 against Mooresville.

On Dec. 20, Davidson Day beat Christian Academy (Tenn.) 55-40 in the championship game of the Augusta Christian Holiday Tournament. Anglade had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Davis was named to the all-tournament team.

The Patriots advanced to the final with a 56-55 win against Father Lopez (Fla.) on D.J. Carnegie’s 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Meeting for triathlete organization

The Xtreme Kids Tri-Team, made up of Lake Norman-area youth between the ages of 7 and 15 who compete locally and nationally, will hold an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics Center.  RSVP to xtremekidstri@gmail.com to attend.

Spring lacrosse leagues and free clinics

Registration is open for the Cornelius PARC Department’s spring lacrosse season, which will be in partnership with Xtreme Lacrosse.

Players can register at www.xlacrosse.com and find additional information. The spring season will begin in mid-February.

Xtreme Lacrosse will hold four free clinics for beginning lacrosse players - both boys and girls - on Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 from 11 a.m.-noon at Smithville Park.
