EnergyUnited and other North Carolina Touchstone Energy cooperatives will offer an all-expenses paid scholarship next summer for 52 kids across the state at N.C. State University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Twenty-six girls will be selected to attend the Kellie Harper Wolfpack Basketball Academy at N.C. State University in Raleigh, and 26 boys will attend the Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Each camper will work directly with championship-winning collegiate coaches to develop fundamental skills that will help the young athletes excel both on and off the court. The camps will be held in June on the college campuses.

EnergyUnited will select one boy and one girl who live within the cooperative’s 19-county service area. Rising sixth through eighth graders are eligible to apply, and the cooperative will begin accepting applications on Jan. 2. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 30. Applicants will be judged on their academics, extra-curricular activities and accompanying essay. Students can download an application at www.ncelectriccooperatives.com.
