DENVER – Lincoln Charter School reported this week that it has implemented the initial stages of its Lincoln Charter 1:1 program, a program that allows each high school student to receive a school-owned laptop for use until graduation.
A $150,000 grant from the Timken Foundation and a $50,000 donation from the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization helped fund the program. The remainder of the program’s expenditures were paid for using the school’s annual budget.
A total of 363 laptops were distributed to students in November during Lincoln Charter 1:1 orientation sessions. Students will have use of their laptops day and night through the remainder of the school year. They will be collected before summer break for maintenance and reimaging, and students will be expected to bring them to school each day and charge them overnight.
