HUNTERSVILLE – The Huntersville Holiday 5K and Half Marathon held Saturday, Dec. 3, will begin and end at Birkdale Village.
But participants will be walking, running and jogging through Birkdale, McAulay, Wynfield and the Villages at Rosedale neighborhoods and portions of Gilead Road, Ranson Road and Stumptown Road.
The half marathon participants will go from Birkdale Village, up Sandowne Lane to Brentfield Road, through the McAulay Subdivision to Hugh Torance and Wynfield Creek Parkway to Gilead Road for about 100 feet to Ranson Road, loop around the Villages at Rosedale, then head back up Ranson Road to Stumptown Road, back to Hugh McAuley Road to Devonshire Drive, return to Birkdale Commons Parkway and conclude at Birkdale Village.
The event begins at 8 a.m. and is expected to end by 11 a.m.
The course will be clearly marked and police will be out helping with safety. Drivers should be aware of potential delays getting in and out of these neighborhoods and roads.
