CORNELIUS – AAA’s Carolinas’ Foundation for Traffic Safety has named Cornelius one of the safest towns for traffic with a population between 10,000 and 30,000 residents.

The organization named the safe communities of the year at a ceremony in Durham on Nov. 1. Municipalities gain the title based on crash statistics, number of law enforcement officers per capita, the presence of a formal traffic safety program and existence of a special traffic division.
