DAVIDSON – The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and the Davidson Lands Conservancy will hold a ceremony marking the county’s purchase of the former 242-acre Abersham development off Grey and Shearer roads in Davidson on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The ceremony will feature family activities including nature hikes, bird hikes and educational classes on local wildlife.

“The Abersham purchase is a rare opportunity to preserve a unique site for natural res12ource protection and passive recreation,” said Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Director Jim Garges. “With this purchase, over 600 acres are within the new park area.”
