Powderpuff football fun

DAVIDSON – Woodlawn School culminated its 2011 Spirit Week, the week of Oct. 17, with a homecoming parade, powderpuff football game and students versus faculty soccer game Oct. 21.
More than 20 upper school girls made up two teams: The Red Rhinos and the Pink Panthers. True to powderpuff tradition, enthusiastic squads of upper school boys – some of whom donned pink tutus – lined the field to cheer on both teams. The Pink Panthers won the game 42-28 over the Red Rhinos, earning powdered doughnuts.
Later that evening, members of the varsity men’s and women’s soccer teams faced off against a group of faculty and alumni. Woodlawn welcomed back several recent graduates, including Sophia Spach and Darius Knott from the Class of 2011. Still, the varsity teams proved too much for the older folk to handle, winning 4-2. During halftime, the school dedicated two young trees in honor of the school’s first two graduating classes.
The occasion marked Woodlawn School’s tenth anniversary of operation.
